NaturOPATHIC MEDICINE
Naturopathic Medicine is a system of care that uses natural therapies to address the root cause of illness or disease and promotes health and healing. Treatments may include clinical nutrition, botanical (herbal) medicine, homeopathic medicine, physical treatments, acupuncture and Asian medicine, and lifestyle counselling.
+ Emotional and Spiritual Counselling
Addressing the mind-body connection is a very important part of naturopathic medicine. Many diseases are connected to unresolved stress. By uncovering these and resolving them, the body's healing process becomes much easier.
+ Wellness and Weight Loss
Weight loss is more complicated than how much you eat. Hormonal issues, health issues, inflammation, depression and your own unique metabolism can contribute to weight gain and a seeming inability to lose weight. We will work with you to identify barriers to weight loss, match it with lab testing, clinical nutrition and individualized support to help you be successful in your journey.
+ Acupuncture
Stimulates nerve-rich areas of the skin to help the body to respond in terms of body function, and support the glands, tissues and organs of the body. It uses incredibly thin needles to alert the immune system, to promote circulation, heal wounds and relieve pain.
+ Homeopathy
Homeopathic remedies are based on the idea that the body has its own healing powers and has the ability to address illness by stimulating those powers. Using natural substances this medicine stimulates the body’s healing by its own power.
Massage Therapy/Stretching
Our most common type of massage is Swedish massage therapy. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes of the muscles, tendons and ligaments, combined with movement of the joints to relieve muscle tension, improve blood flow and aid in relaxation. Deep Tissue Massage works deeper into the body to release severe, built-up tension in the connective tissues and muscles in your body. It is great for healing old injuries, athletes, those with physically demanding work or for lingering conditions.
+ Myofascial Stretching and Release
Myofascial release is used to treat myofascial pain syndrome, a chronic pain disorder caused by sensitivity and tightness in your skeletal muscles. This physical therapy reduces pain by easing the tension and tightness in those muscles.
+ Lymphatic Drainage
The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from bodily tissues. Health conditions can interrupt the normal flow of lymph, causing it to build up in a particular area of the body, often in the arms or legs, where it can cause a swelling condition called lymphedema. Lymphedema, swelling and circulation are improved with a very light massage and drainage.
Injury TherapY
+ Shockwave Therapy
A highly effective, non-invasive therapy that is used to treat a variety of soft tissue, muscle and tendon injuries. This non-surgical therapy promotes accelerated healing of soft tissue, muscle and tendon injuries, such as Carpal Tunnel, chronic back & neck pain, Golfers & Tennis Elbow, Rotator Cuff tears, Plantar Fascitis, and tendonitis.
+ Laser Therapy
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is the application of red or near-infra-red light to the area of injuries or lesions to improve wound and soft tissue healing, reduce inflammation, and give relief for both acute and chronic pain. LLLT is most often used for inflammatory conditions, tissue repair, joint pains or skin lesions.
+ Injury and Sports Injury management
Managing an athlete’s health involves rehabilitating injuries they have sustained, preventing future injuries from occurring and optimizing body function so that they can perform at their very best. The athlete requires a systemic look at how muscles, joints and the nervous system function individually and as part of a whole movement system to create optimal balance, flexibility and strength.
Therapy and CounsellinG
+ Art Therapy – Registered Psychotherapist
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative expression as a way for children to express themselves, share their thoughts and feelings, and practice their problem-solving abilities. The process is based on art and play, which helps kids to feel comfortable and takes the pressure off of talking. Art therapy can help children to understand their feelings, manage anxiety, adjust to changes or transitions, grieve losses, practice social skills, build confidence, and / or develop self regulation.
